RESONANZEN 2009
Lustgärten
Baroque "pleasure gardens" as places of musical encounters were the motto of Vienna's 17th Festival of Ancient Music, the "Resonanzen" which took place at the Konzerthaus in January 2009. As usual the programme offered musical treasures of Ancient Music in the interpretation of the leading artists and ensembles, six of which were first appearances. One focus was set on this year's reigning composer, Georg Friedrich Händel, around which were grouped works by Vivaldi and Purcell, but also by far lesser-known masters.
The artists and ensembles were:
Europa Galante, Fabio Bondi, Vivica Genaux, Roberta Invernizzi, Stefanie Iranyi, Philippe Jaroussky, Romina Basso, La Dolcezza, Veronika Skuplik, Luca Guglielmi, Gabrieliconsort & Players, Paul MacCreesh, Mhairi Lawson, James Gilchrist, Christopher Purves, Ensemble 1700, Dorothee Oberlinger, Stimmwerck, Alte Musik Köln, Ensemble Arte Musica, Francesco Cera, Evangelina Mascardi, Mónica Pustilnik, Barbara Kozelj, Gillian Webster, Red Byrd, Magdalena Hasibeder, La Lusignuola, Ensemble Amikal, Christoph Urbanetz, Anne Marie Dragosits, Schikaneders Jugend.
The compostions on this CD are by Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Rosenmüller, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Luigi Battiferri, Henry Purcell, Georg Friedrich Händel, Jean Hotteterre, Nicolas Chédeville, Michel Pignolet de Montéclair, Antoine Brumel, Johann Friedrich Meister, Luzzasco Luzzaschi, John Dowland, Alfonso Ferrabosco, John Danyel, John Isham, John Playford, Pelham Humfrey, Johann Jacob Froberger, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Jean-Baptiste Forqueray, Antoine Forqueray and Marin Marais.
