Since sound recording is the solid foundation of preserving living jazz, this discography is the most important document of Hungarian jazz history. Hungarian films & videos with jazz content – many exist – aren’t included herein. “Hungarian Jazz Discography 1905 – 1994” includes music that could be classified as: jazz, semi-jazz, hot-dance, jazz-dance, spiritual, blues, rock-jazz, fusion music, third stream, etc. In this respect the broadest possible picture of available “jazz” material was aimed at. In the “Hungarian Jazz Discography 1905 – 1994” the following recordings will be included: All records mady by Hungarian musicians in Hungary. All records made by Hungarian musicians abroad. All recordings of foreign jazz players made in Hungary.
