Peterson, Oscar / Fitzgerald, Ella - Lausanne 1953 (Swiss Radio Days Jazz Series, Vol. 15)

JATP Lausanne 1953.
Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson remain two stellar personalities to forever reside in the Olympic heights of jazz. To re-introduce either of them seems to be truly unnecessary. This album features both of the artist’s performance during a “Jazz at the Philharmonic” – concert tour in 1953, recorded by the Swiss Radio. Ella shines during seven songs, which pretty much sum up her brilliant concept of entertainment, full of excellent vocals, scatting and humorous delivery of a most convincing performance. She is accompanied by Oscar Peterson,p, Ray Brown, b, and J.C. Heard, dr, a more than adequate backup band!
Track eight features tenor saxophone stylist Lester Young and his famous tune “Lester leaps in”. With him O.P. and his rhythm section plus Charlie Shavers on trumpet.
Oscar Peterson (p), Ella Fitzgerald (voc), Barney Kessel (g), Ray Brown (b), J.C. Heard (dr), and (partly) Lester Young (ts), Charlie Shavers (tp).
